Volume number 2 is now behind us, but not without declaring who is our winner. A big congratulations goes out to William Walton and his wonderful story “Ozzie the Clown”, our latest winner in the yearly Anthology contest “An Honest Lie”.

We are very pleased to be working with William Walton as our newest author, he is definitely a writer that I for one am looking forward to reading more from, and I can see that you are as well.

William, I want to thank you for taking the time to submit this wonderfully crafted story to our second volume, and also for revisiting us yet again for our third volume with “Mike from the Mailroom”, it’s always great to see Alumni returning to work with us again.

This year’s submissions for An Honest Lie, Volume 3: Justifiable Hypocrisy were an exciting mix of creatve, unique, and quirky stories.  We absolutely loved all of them and regretted that our allowance of space would only permit publishing a small percentage. Each fall we open submissions for our yearly anthology, An Honest Lie. Every volume has its own unique theme. For instance, Volume 1′s theme was Encouraging the Delinquency of your Inner Child. Volume 2′s theme was  Delusions of Insignificance.  And, Volume 3′s theme was Justifiable Hypocrisy. We can’t tell you now what the theme will be for Volume 4, but we can say it will be just as unique and quirky as our previous themes. Well it is that time of year again… for the first time ever!

An Honest Lie, Volume 1: Encouraging the Delinquency of Your Inner Child has brought us a lot of wonderful authors who in turn created a great number of amazingly well written stories, and I for one am very proud of every last one of them and proud to have published each of them in turn.

Below are a few comments from our readers just so you can see what has been said about Volume 1.

An Honest Lie Vol 1 has to be the best anthology I have read all year, and I read a lot of short fiction anthologies.

If I had to pick one author to vote for out of this volume, I wish I could have picked all 17 authors.

Each story was better than the one before, and yet somehow each was amazing in its own unique way.

If Volume 1 was this good, I can’t wait to see what Volume 2 brings

Dear Open Heart Publishing… Holy F’ng sh!t!!! This was the best book I have read in years. Your authors deserve awards … I wish I had them to give, all I can do is buy another 2 books and I am glad I can do so easily.

First off I want to thank everyone who participated in the open call for submissions to our yearly anthology An Honest Lie. We had about 3,000 entries this year, and the competition was fierce with so many wonderful interpretations of this year’s theme “Delusions of Insignificance.”
